Greens Day at the Lebanon Downtown Farmers' Market
Greens are the theme for the opening day of the Lebanon Downtown Farmers’ Market, on Thursday, May 18. Among the farmers’ booths will be lettuce and other greens as well as vegetables starts and spring treats such as rhubarb. The Oregon State University Extension Master Gardeners will provide planting advice, and the Santiam Food Alliance will offer free lettuce starts to pot and take home along with tastings of raw greens, a massaged kale salad, and a mixed-greens pesto. Cards printed with the recipes will also be available at no charge. This event is organized by the Santiam Food Alliance, which spreads the joy of locally grown food in the area encompassing Lebanon, Sweet Home, and Scio. For more information, see the website at santiamfood.org.
