Workplace Bullies: Control Them Before They Destroy You
Respect in the workplace; is that too much to ask? Depending on where you work, it might be. Workplace bullying can take many forms including abuse, misuse of power, gossip, isolation, derogatory comments, hazing, and undermining type of behavior, just to name a few. It impacts morale, productivity, employee engagement levels, employee health, overall business performance, legal risk, and much more. While bullying behavior specifically is not yet illegal, bullying types of behavior often serve as the bulk of evidence used to prove hostile work environment and retaliation claims against employers. This program will explore the type of behavior that constitutes workplace bullying and how it differs from illegal harassment. We will also discuss the potential legal risks arising from bullying; its detrimental impact on individual performance and corporate bottom line results; and practical things organizations can do to bring harmony back to the workplace This program is pending approval for 1 (general) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.
