Americans with Disabilities Act

Nearly 19 million U.S. residents ? 10 percent of those ages 18 through 64 ? identified as disabled in 2008. According to the U.S. Census Bureau?s American Community Survey, about 264,000 of them were Oregonians. At some time, most employers will be faced with accommodating an employee with a disability.

This session will be jointly presented by representatives of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), and will cover the Americans with Disabilities Act, the employer?s responsibility to provide accommodation to an employee with a disability, and practical tips and resources for employers.
