Director, Oregon Department of Veteran Affairs
Construction on the Veterans Home in Lebanon is expected to begin soon!
Director Willis reports that more than 100,000 of Oregon’s 340,000 Veterans live in this area. The Air Force Veteran who served in Vietnam said the property’s location in the mid-valley, as well as the home’s immediate proximity to Western University of Health Sciences COMP NW Campus and Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, makes the site a perfect match.
“This new home comes at exactly the right time,” Director Willis said. “Oregon is home to 30,000 World War II Veterans, 36,000 Korean War veterans and 120,000 Vietnam Veterans and we are all getting older. This site will make it easy for family and friends to visit.”
The project will bring with it at least 200 family-wage jobs, Director Willis said. The facility joins a 151-bed, nationally recognized home in The Dalles that opened in 1997.
