The Oregon Mid-Valley Road Race is a premiere running event held annually on Thanksgiving morning. Organized by the Mid-Valley Lions Club this chip timed event raises funds to help meet growing medical needs in the Mid-Valley and supports local service organizations' community projects. Mid-Valley Lions donations provide free vision and hearing assistance, health screenings, youth outreach activities, local, national and international disaster relief and international efforts to prevent blindness. There are four events to choose from: (1) the 10K Scenic Challenge Run, (2) the 5K ‘To Hill and Back” Run, (3) a 2.5 Mile Walk and (4) the Gobbler's Revenge Half Marathon. And, to make things even more interesting, there is a cash grab for the first runner to crest Scenic Hill! Prizes and medals are awarded. Visit the Oregon Mid Valley Road Race website for details, current fees and to register online. The School Challenge is a signature feature of the Oregon Mid-Valley Road Race. A $1,000 prize will be given to each of the local Junior High and High School that recruits the most race participants. The funds are awarded to the PTO or Booster Club at the winning schools. All race registrants can support a local school so everyone is encouraged to participate in the Oregon Mid-Valley Road Race School Challenge when registering. Check pre-registration deadlines, packet pick-up information, start times, day-of-race activities and more at www.omroadrace.org/. And, stay current with race updates, photos and what's new for race day at the Oregon Mid-Valley Road Race Facebook page.
