Presentation: How Stress Effects Dementia
Join Dr. Helen Kao for a presentation on How Stress Effects Dementia:
- How dementia symptoms and ‘behaviors’ can change for many reasons
- How acute stress can cause a sudden ‘decline’ in cognition
- Common examples of “acute stress”
- Differences in how a brain with dementia may process symptoms.
This event is open to the public and offered free of charge. Registration is not required. Dr. Helen Kao is Medical Director of Clinical Innovations at Lumina Hospice and Palliative Care in Corvallis, OR, and Professor of Medicine with the University of California San Francisco. She is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and hospice & palliative medicine. Helen’s clinical work has focused on the care of frail, homebound, and vulnerable adults for over 15 years. She has particular interests in dementia, home-based care, and palliative care.
Respite care services at the Grace Center are offered during the lectures. The fee is $20 for the Thursday evening session, while the Friday noon lectures are FREE.
