Apr 3    The City of Lebanon Why I Love Lebanon Video Contest
The contest is open to anyone in the Lebanon community and requires a completed contest entry/release form along with your Why I Love Lebanon video idea in 400 words or less.
 
The contest entry deadline is May 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm.
If you submit the winning idea you will work with a professional videographer to bring your Why I Love Lebanon video to life.
 
The video will premiere at the Oregon Mayor’s Conference for 80+ Mayors from across the state at Boulder Falls Event Center over July 27 – 29, 2017.
 
The video will also be featured on the City’s website and Facebook page.

Apr 6    Free Class: Safe Medication Use in Older Adults
On Thursday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Oregon Care Partners is hosting a free, instructor-led class in Lebanon titled “Safe Medication Use in Older Adults“ that’s designed to help anyone who cares for an aging Oregonian learn about safe medication use, pain management and medication reviews. This half-day class is free of charge, thanks to funding from the State of Oregon and partnerships with trusted non-profits including the Alzheimer’s Association and Oregon Health Care Association. WHAT: The class is designed to help anyone who cares for an aging Oregonian understand how medicines work in older adults, and learn skills to optimize care. A professional instructor will share real-world experience in an interactive classroom environment. This class is free, thanks to funding by the State of Oregon. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Individuals who provide care for an aging family member or loved one, as well as those who work in professional caregiver settings, public safety or social work, are encouraged to sign up for this free class. Apr 7 - Apr 15    Basic Mediation Training
Basic Mediation Training provided by Neighbor-to-Neighbor Mediation which serves Benton, Linn, and Marion Counties. This 36 hour training is open to anyone (i.e. community members, counselors, teachers, business associates, lawyers and others) wishing to learn interpersonal communication skills, understand how to use conflict as a positive opportunity, and for those wishing to become certified mediators (a volunteer option for N2N is available at a reduced rate). The training meets all standards set for community mediators within the University of Oregon School of Law. The dates are: April 7/8, 13/14 from 8:30-5:30 p.m., and Thursday evening APril 13 from 5-9 p.m. The training is being held at the Mennonite Church in Albany, just off I5. If you plan to commit to volunteering (2 cases a month for at least one year) the fee is $195.

Lebanon, Oregon was named a 2016 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.

Lebanon achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Apr 22    The Cheadle Challenge Adventure Run Epic Mud III
The Cheadle Challenge is a homegrown adventure run that takes place at Cheadle Lake Park in Lebanon, Oregon.  The course just over 3 miles in length winds along lakeside trails, through the woods, across fields, a small swamp and also includes at least eight obstacles of varying difficulty.  The Cheadle Challenge is designed to be run, jogged or walked ... if you're an elite trail runner, you'll have a blast; if you want to bring the family and enjoy some good "dirty" fun - you'll have a blast!  Trails vary between dirt, gravel and pavement.
Following the run you'll enjoy our bonfire, cold beer (or non-alcoholic beverage) and HOT soup - all served up by local volunteers.  
Proceeds from the Cheadle Challenge go directly to benefit local non-profits - impacting the lives and well being of thousands in East Linn County.
