May 3    Lebanon Community School District 2nd annual Career Fair
Lebanon Community School District would like to invite you to have a booth at our 2nd annual Career Fair on Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at Lebanon High School. This year we expect over 1,000 students to attend the event. Last year, we invited only 8th grade students, but this year, as requested by last year’s presenters, we are expanding that to include any and all high school students who wish to attend. It should be a great day!

Inspire the youth of our community by sharing your career journey, a typical workday, education requirements and more.  Students will make their rounds to the various booths and ask questions and gather info. This is an opportunity for students to speak with someone whose career choice interests them and to explore areas they may not have considered before. We encourage people with all kinds of jobs to be available on this day.

Career Fair details: The fair will last 7 hours (8am to 3:00pm), with students in grade 8 thru 12 visiting booths to ask questions and learn about your career. We will have students in grades 8 thru 12 visiting at various times throughout the day. Lunch will be provided to presenters during the lunch break. Tables will be provided for each business to set up their career information; please fill out the attached google form to let us know if you need access to an outlet or have other special requirements. The attached form also lets us know you are coming. Please register online by Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017. Presenters are able to bring in any props, visual aids, etc. for their table. Please let me know on the form if you have any special requests.

If you, or someone you know is a great presenter, and would like to talk to students about life, the importance of soft skills, being a good person, what you are looking for in an employee, etc.

May 4    May the Fourth be with You
The Library is hosting a fantastic and fun new event “May the Fourth Be with You”. This event will be held on May 4th from 6-8pm and will celebrate all that is Star Wars. There is a fabulous group in the area that attends events dressed as the various characters from the Star Wars books and movies. They will be here at the Library that night! There will be games, crafts, snacks, and a raffle for all ages. One highlight of the event will be an all ages costume contest. Something we have never done before at any event is an art contest. Artists can bring their original Star Wars themed art to the library starting May 1st at 10am through May 3rd at 7pm. Artists are limited to three entries (This is a family event. Artwork needs to be appropriate for all ages to view). The artwork will be displayed during the event where the winners will be announced. Artwork will be judged on creativity, style and how well the artwork reflects the theme. Then the artwork will be placed in the display cabinet at the library for the following three weeks. Artwork can be picked up beginning Monday May 29th and must be retrieved by Wednesday May 26th. The hope is to get a variety of Star Wars artwork to display.

May 30    Strategies for Work Team Success Seminar
Our 2nd Educational Seminar Series for Lebanon
Chamber Members presented by LBCC’s Karin Magnuson is

May 30th, 5:30 –7pm. at the LBCC Lebanon Annex, 44 Industrial Way, Lebanon.

Business work teams are made up of individuals who work toward shared goals. Some work teams are formed for a specific purpose and are only together for a short time. Others are together for long periods of time. Whether short or long term, some useful strategies can be employed to help ensure work team success. Building an engaged, motivated work team is worth the effort. During this workshop we will identify things successful teams have in common and explore
success factors such as commitment, trust, clarity of purpose, communication and how to consistently achieve results.
